I came across this poem the other day, which I wrote and emailed to my daughter when I was on a business trip about 15 years ago. The sentiments expressed within it are just as true and strongly felt now as they were then. I thought that you, my readers, would appreciate it….
For my Sweet Girl (written March, 2001)…
There once was a little girl
Who stole her daddy’s heart away…
She did it with her beautiful smile,
And a spirit that lights-up his day.
Whenever his little girl is sad,
This daddy in his heart will pray…
That she soon is better and happy again,
So that she can can go out and play.
This daddy loves this little girl so much!
She brings joy in his heart every day.
He knows that without her
His life would be threadbare and frayed.
You’ll always be my little girl,
No matter where you go or what you do.
Just remember that in your heart,
Daddy’s, and Jesus’, love lives through you.
– Daddy
And, may this birthday be the best ever for you, my sweet and beautiful daughter. I always have been, and always will be, proud and supportive of who you are, and of your hopes and dreams…
